Here’s to the do-it-yourselfers!![]()

We talk to a lot of youth leaders out there who are do-it-yourselfers. I know who you are, because I was one.
I would never hire someone to speak at our retreats, I would run our own summer camps, and find our own mission site. Having been one, I connect with the rest of you do-it-yourselfers out there. So you can understand why I’m excited to announce the do-it-yourself leadership retreat. We love this retreat. Our staff has been running it for the last 4 years at churches around the country with great reviews. But then we realized, we were missing out on serving people like you. So today, here’s to you…the do-it-yourselfer.

“Crap…A Student Asked Me To Mentor Them”

I was at church the other night, sitting around with a couple of adult youth volunteers, and this woman says to me, “crap, these two girls asked me to mentor them. what do I do.” This got me thinking…what if there was a tool that could help a scared adult to start mentoring right away. And what if it was more than just a typical Bible study? So I came back to the office, told the staff about my conversation, and we decided to make this tool called the mentoring road…and what you got to see is the life map inside of it. The life map is a tool that helps you get the conversation going with students about what’s really happening in their life. Its also a goal setting tool and a way to help students get bigger perspective on their lives (which we all know students can use).
This whole guide lets you start mentoring right away, and its really easy to use. check it out. http://www.leadertreks.org/one-on-one–real-community.html
We’ve Been Talking About This For 4 Years
LeaderTreks just sent to the printer, a product that we’ve had in mind for 4 years.
15 years ago, we made these unique devos for our missions trips. They were designed so that the students had to work to figure out the truth of scripture for themselves, instead of giving them a bunch of answers or leading questions. In fact, a lot of youth pastors don’t get it at first, but when they do see students use them and realize the depth at which their students are learning, they get excited.
It took us a while, but finally we thought to ourselves, wouldn’t it be great if we made these to use outside of mission trips…but we just never got around to it. Its not rocket science, its just a clear ways for students to do inductive Bible study, and create a structure for their spiritual growth. If you want to check them out, here’s the link to our store http://www.leadertreks.org/one-on-one-leadership-challenges-king-david.html Enjoy!
